General Purpose:
Ensure that all equipment operates effectively and efficiently. Must have excellent proficiency in preventative maintenance, overhauls, modifications, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Working knowledge of machine shop equipment and excellent problem-solving skills are essential.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on production, processing, and utility equipment following all safety procedures.
- Support the installation of new equipment.
- Assist operators with training and troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
- Document all repairs accurately.
- Foster teamwork aligned with our company and plant mission, vision, and core values.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Follow Dairy Farmers of America GMPs and work in accordance with all corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain safe working conditions and comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Prioritize safety to ensure employees leave work in the same condition as they arrived.
- Demonstrate the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Adhere to all Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and report any nonconformities.
- Attend required training including Safety, GMP, HACCP, and SQF.

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two years of mechanical/electrical education certification or equivalent maintenance work experience preferred.
- SAP experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to perform electrical work such as changing pump motors and diagnosing motor control problems.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders.
- Proficiency in using standard maintenance tools safely.
- Ability to plan and execute minor projects, including non-sanitary piping, drain lines, and vacuum lines.
- Capability to perform routine repairs like rebuilding pumps, boiler maintenance, HVAC, VFDs, sanitary valves, and piping leaks.
- Experience with routine preventative maintenance, abnormal condition identification, and record-keeping.
- Basic welding skills (TIG/STICK) for repair and fabrication.
- Ability to interpret process control schematics and diagnose system issues.
- Assist and collaborate with other mechanics on complex repairs.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and cooperation.
- Successful completion of a written maintenance test by the Maintenance Manager.
- Basic computer skills.
