Hours : Teaching is normally scheduled between 8 : 00 am and 10 : 00 pm, Monday – Friday

Home Campus : Stoney Creek

Rate of Pay : Commensurate upon education and experience

The Building Systems and Sustainability department within the Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship requires a part-time Professor and / or Instructor to teach in the Gas & Oil Burner Technician 2 post-secondary program.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors and / or Instructors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment using a blended model of presentation in classes.

Other teaching duties may be assigned within the Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship on an occasional basis as required by the College.

What you’ll be doing :

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Teaching theory and practical application components.
  • Creating a positive sustainable and innovative student-centered learning environment in both the classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum and students.
  • Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
  • Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
  • Enhancing educational delivery and experiences using the College’s MyCanvas learning management system and other technology to facilitate student learning.
  • Applying College values and philosophy in work activities and interaction with others.
  • Using the College’s MyCanvas learning management system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.

Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to the role :

  • A valid Ontario Provincial Multi-Fuel Certificate as an OBT 2 and GT 2.
  • 313A or 313D Certificate of Qualification is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of three to five years of industry work experience in industrial, residential and commercial and / or industrial for Gas / Oil.
  • Related teaching experience, preferably in a post-secondary / apprenticeship setting, is considered an asset.
  • Adult Education teaching certificate is preferred, but not required.
  • Learner-centred approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
