Role Overview

As a Guest Experience Specialist (GES), you will create memorable experiences for our guests. You will serve as the primary contact for questions and assistance at our Stations, Guest Centres, and other destinations, providing essential services such as Motor Coach Transfers, Check-In, and local advice.

Safety Notice

This position is Safety Sensitive, requiring access to railway areas. The GES is part of the Destinations Guest Operations team, responsible for safety of colleagues, guests, the public, property, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Guest Experience:
    • Welcome and care for guests, sharing expertise and passion.
    • Assist with check-in, boarding passes, luggage tags, and hotel keys.
    • Ensure seamless transfers, guiding guests and providing announcements.
    • Address guest concerns with care and efficiency.
    • Support guests with special requirements for a comfortable journey.
    • Handle luggage safely.
    • Maintain cleanliness and welcoming environment at stations and guest centres.
  2. Leadership and Engagement:
    • Promote a safe, respectful, and positive work environment.
    • Support team motivation and collaboration.
    • Recommend improvements for guest experience.
  3. Safety and Security:
    • Follow safety standards and emergency procedures.
    • Report incidents promptly and support investigations.
Qualifications
Education and Knowledge
  • Valid AB or BC Driver’s License with a safe driving record (asset).
  • Second language (asset).
Experience
  • Experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service (asset).
Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, confident with public speaking and microphones.
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with a professional work ethic.
  • Calm and consistent in handling difficult situations.
  • Adaptable to new technologies and committed to guest service.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to railway operations.
  • Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and split shifts; possible overtime.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada through the season.

Compensation

Hourly wage: $21.80/hour
