Job description

We have an immediate opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Data Manager to join our dynamic Environmental Remediation team.

The successful candidate will work independently and within the Information Services team to manage database systems, develop data management procedures, assist colleagues with data-related tasks, and network with internal/external clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare proposals and data management estimates.
2. Liaise and coordinate with internal and external clients to provide data management solutions.
3. Provide mentorship to existing data managers.
4. Work on various environmental projects locally, across North America, and internationally.
5. Manage and organize laboratory, field, spatial, and geological data to ensure quality and consistency.
6. Maintain and query data using EQuIS, MS Access, and MS SQL Server.
7. Produce data reports using in-house software and specialized queries.
8. Assist in developing standards and procedures for data management and process improvements.
9. Coordinate with project managers, laboratories, and team members to acquire and import data packages into centralized database systems.

Capabilities and Credentials

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Proficiency with EarthSoft EQuIS, MS Access, and SQL Server, with a strong understanding of database relationships.
• Knowledge of Federal/Provincial/Municipal/State regulatory guidelines.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience working with environmental analytical data.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Adaptability to changing environments and multiple priorities, with self-management skills.
• Commitment to meeting project deadlines.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Excel VBA skills.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Education and Experience

• 5+ years of related data management experience in environmental or analytical chemistry sectors.
• B.A. or B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Geography, or related fields, or relevant certifications/diplomas.

Work Environment

Typically office-based, involving computer work and sedentary activity for extended periods.
