Summary of Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Chef, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing professional, friendly, and engaging service
- Following departmental policies, procedures, and standards
- Assisting in the preparation and service of all food items for à la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards
- Maintaining cleanliness and proper upkeep of work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Having full knowledge of menu items, daily features, and promotions
- Proper labeling, dating, and storage of kitchen items
- Adhering to safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
- Following hotel vehicle handling and safety policies when driving hotel and guest vehicles
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous culinary experience is an asset
- Understanding of knife safety and proper use
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Legally eligible to work in Canada; the hotel cannot assist with work authorization
- Additional qualifications may be required depending on the position
Physical Aspects of Position
Includes but not limited to:
- Walking: 1-8 hours/day
- Standing: 6-8 hours/day
- Bending/Reaching: 1-3 hours/day
- Pushing/Pulling: 1-3 hours/day
- Physical effort to lift up to 50 lbs
- Environmental stress is high; primarily indoor work, outdoor work may be required
