Our Gentilly location is in search of an Occupation Safety and Health / Industrial Hygienist (OSH/IH) to join the team. Apply today!

What will you be doing?
  1. Identifying objects, actions, and events: categorize, estimate, recognize differences or similarities, and detect changes in circumstances or events.
  2. Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards: use relevant information and judgment to assess whether events or processes meet laws, regulations, or standards.
  3. Analyzing data or information: break down data to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  4. Utilizing risk management principles and thinking creatively to solve problems.
  5. Reviewing contractor plans and providing meaningful feedback.
  6. Interacting with managers and directors to solicit advice and promote implementation strategies.
  7. Performing other duties as assigned by your manager.
What We Are Looking For
  • Education
    • College diploma or university degree within an OSH, IH, or a related field from an accredited program, or extensive OSH and IH training and certification.
    • Possess or be able to obtain professional credentials such as CRST and NCSO; additional credentials like CRSP, CSP, CMIOSH, or ROHT are preferred.
  • Experience
    • At least 4-6 years of OSH and IH experience in complex environments such as nuclear, research & technology, heavy construction, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, or environmental remediation. Experience with radiation safety is an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Technical and practical OSH and IH knowledge, including competencies in hazardous energy control, fall protection, confined space, electrical safety, and more.
    • Knowledge of industrial hygiene areas like asbestos, silica, hazardous products, noise, heat stress, PPE, and air sampling methodologies.
    • Practical knowledge in asbestos abatement, confined space entry, and air monitoring.
    • Understanding of Canadian provincial and federal OSH legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
    • Experience with risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety analytical tools.
    • Ability to stay updated on industry practices and legislation changes.
    • Understanding of Human Performance principles.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), requiring 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the US, or the UK.
Working Conditions
  • Physically fit to work up to 12 hours a day, including managing stairs and ladders.
  • Willing to wear PPE, including respirators.
  • Extensive walking on uneven terrain in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather, including inclement conditions.
  • Combination of office and field work, including in radiologically active environments.
  • May require overtime and travel.
  • Field work is a key component, involving laboratories, construction sites, and open fields.
