The Systems Analyst is responsible for optimizing the use of information technology to support operations, assisting in the management of information technology applications including upgrades, interfaces, and user support for supported applications.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer Science, Health Informatics or equivalent degree/work related experience
Extensive application support skills including database management, word processing, spreadsheets, and report generation
Experience in interfacing applications. HL7 protocol preferred.
SQL and ORACLE (scripting, queries, report generation) skills an asset
Results oriented and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Experience developing real-time interfaces as an asset
Extensive experience developing and executing detailed data conversion plans
Knowledge of clinical processes and experience in a healthcare environment is an asset.
Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to set and meet priorities
Knowledge of and experience in systems analysis and design
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the changes required to the systems or databases, interfaces, and ongoing support of the Cerner system, including the change management processes.
Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures for user security in all supported systems and provides documentation as required.
Develops and implements contingency planning for supported systems’ downtimes.
Takes corrective action on problems identified with software.
Acts as a resource for users’ problems and participates in the development of solutions to those problems. Consults with vendor as required.
Collaborates with IT partners in installation and testing of systems and interfaces.
Coordinates activities involved in software version upgrades: Tests new versions, learns new functionalities, defines procedural changes, and provides training updates for staff on the new system features, supports product research, review, and evaluation to guide purchase decisions.
Responsible for documentation of training, support, and system manuals.
Participates in the identification and development of educational programs and resources to support staff adoption of information technology solutions.
Basic project planning skills.
Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the electronic health record.
Develops and implements contingency planning.
Must be able to work overtime on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required by system support and maintenance.
Must be part of the “on-call team”, providing support to end users after hours.
