Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Risk Manager, Legal & Risk Management, the Risk Analyst, Financial will be part of the Corporate Legal and Risk Group. The role involves subcontractor prequalification and supporting the administration of the subcontractor default insurance program. This is a junior role with growth potential into a more senior position.

This position can be based in Calgary or Edmonton, AB.

Responsibilities
Risk Management
  • Analyze potential subcontractors/suppliers for financial capacity, experience, and operational resources to meet project/contract criteria.
  • Coordinate subcontractor prequalification for the default insurance program based on corporate risk appetite and growth goals.
  • Follow established protocols for subcontractor/supplier management to oversee performance.
  • Address inquiries regarding the subcontractor default insurance program from internal and external sources.
  • Assist in tracking notices, prequalification documents, and reporting to insurers for enrollment and billing.
  • Gather and compile insurance renewal information and submission packages.
Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to promote responsible risk management and ensure policy compliance.
  • Build collaborative relationships with subcontractors and suppliers emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in accounting, business, risk management, credit management, insurance, or relevant experience.
  • Experience with data analysis, financial statements, and qualitative reviews is an asset.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across multiple groups.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Collaborative attitude with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Sense of urgency and commitment to goals in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in risk management, insurance, claims, surety, or construction management is a plus.
