RQ03351 - Technical Writer Senior

Client: Ministry of Government and Consumer Services

Period: 10 months

Start Date: 2022-06-06

End Date: 2023-03-31

Location: Toronto

Working Hours: 7.25 Hrs. / day

Must Haves:

  1. Experience documenting in SharePoint Online and Azure DevOps Wiki
  2. Experience with user guides and technical process documents for Azure environment
  3. Ability to work from draft documents and finalize them to formal project artifacts

Assignment Type: This position is currently listed as "Hybrid" due to COVID-19 related work from home direction. Once [Insert Client Name] staff are required to return to the office, the resource under this request may be required to work onsite as well. As such, any FFS consultant awarded this position will be required to attest to being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as supported by the OPS COVID-19 Safe Workplace Directive effective on October 1, 2021. After completing the attestation, you must show proof of vaccination to the Hiring Manager. Managers will not collect a copy of your vaccination proof. Valid proof of vaccination includes:

  • Receipt from the issuing vaccination clinic or pharmacy;
  • An electronic vaccine receipt issued by the Government of Ontario or another province;
  • A record of each dose of your vaccination, such as a receipt, card or confirmation from an international organization with a certified translation; or
  • A QR code from the government's COVID-19 certification app.

FFS Consultants who elect: (1) not to provide proof of full vaccination status, or (2) who are not fully vaccinated, are considered not vaccinated.

Beginning on a date to be determined by the Hiring Manager, FFS Consultants who are not vaccinated are required to complete regular rapid antigen testing every 48 hours and provide proof of the negative test results prior to entering the physical workplace. A negative test result is valid for 48 hours from taking the test. After 48 hours have passed from the FFS Consultant taking the test, the FFS Consultant is required to retest prior to entering the physical workplace again. Consultants will not be permitted to access physical workplaces if they are not vaccinated or do not provide a negative test result. Consistent with screening requirements already in place for OPS employees entering OPS workplaces, FFS Consultants will be required to complete the Non-Employee COVID-19 Screening Form each time prior to entering an OPS workplace.

Responsibilities:

The resource will provide expertise in creating technical documentation pertaining to the ITS/DAP Data Warehouse, including process flows, how-to documentation and user guides with detailed instructions and screenshots where applicable.

The resource will provide expertise in the following areas where capacity is currently not available within the staffing complement:

  • Process documentation and how-to instructions on the Azure based cloud
  • Take existing and net new process documentation and make accessible on internal SharePoint online
  • Develop detailed user guides relating to Data Architect/Data Modeller operational activities
  • Provide detailed instructions for users to connect to Data Warehouse using a variety of tools

Skills

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Evaluation Breakdown:

Portfolio - 30%: Demonstrable skills with a strong portfolio including user guides, process flows and web presence.

Technical Skills - 25%:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with Data Architects, Modelers, and Reporters in a cloud based Azure environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Visio and formatting data in a variety of views, including MS Word, Adobe PDF and HTML.
  • Experience training users and creating training documentation.

Technical Experience - 15%: Demonstrated experience in project management, a team player with a track record for meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities, indication of how knowledge transfer will occur.
