Description :

The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, is seeking to recruit a Staff Psychiatrist, Consultation-Liaison. The successful candidate will hold an academic position as a Clinician-Teacher (or Quality / Educator) and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The effective start date is July 1, 2022.

The primary responsibilities include providing consultation-liaison services for transitional rehabilitation patients at the Humber River Reactivation Centre and Pine Villa, as well as offering addiction and pain psychiatry consultations at the Bayview site. The candidate will join the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry team, engaging in inpatient and outpatient consultation-liaison activities and general outpatient psychiatric care.

Pine Villa is a 68-bed community transitional care facility for patients considered as alternate level of care (ALC), created in collaboration with community partners Sprint and LOFT. It features an interprofessional care model including RPNs, social workers, nurse practitioners, recreation therapists, and a family physician on call.

The Humber Reactivation Care Centre comprises two 30-bed units with care provided by an inter-professional team. Each unit has a family physician hospitalist and nurse practitioner working collaboratively to deliver family- and person-centered care.

Applicants must hold an MD degree, be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Ontario. Advanced training in addiction psychiatry and pain psychiatry is required. A proven track record of excellence in teaching is essential due to the presence of learners on the team.

Compensation is based on a fee-for-service structure, supplemented by funding from Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or departmental administrative roles.
