Job description

Equifax Canada Controllership has a unique opportunity. We are looking for a Tax Manager who will also provide support and assistance to general ledger activities as needed. The Tax Manager, reporting to the Canada Controller, will lead the Tax reporting and compliance in addition to supporting the local general ledger activities as below. This position is a key role in the Canada Controllership with significant interactions with our International and Corporate Tax Team, Corporate Treasury Team, External Tax Advisors and Tax Regulators. The incumbent will join a team and company that embraces challenging the status quo and seeks continuous process improvements.

It requires an individual with exceptional organizational and leadership skills, initiative, and the ability to complete multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively, establish strong partnerships with all the business units and global geographies to work in an integrated and collaborative manner for the purpose of meeting goals, objectives, and enhancing knowledge.

What you’ll do
  1. Prepare quarterly tax provision packages for three companies, prepare quarterly short tax packages, annual withholding tax and information packages.
  2. Prepare annual financial statement for the main company.
  3. Prepare annual T2200 work from home tax form for approximately 300 employees.
  4. Prepare annual NR4 return for interest and dividend payments.
  5. Prepare quarterly balance sheet review comments related to tax.
  6. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to tax.
  7. Prepare monthly closing journal entries related to tax.
  8. Respond to audit requests from various government departments.
  9. File and process payments for monthly sales tax returns and corporate installments.
  10. Review transfer pricing calculations and package prepared by corporate office.
  11. Research on any new tax legislations and review with corporate office and advisors.
  12. Other tax compliances and projects.
Other General Ledger Activities
  1. Assist the team by performing a specific set of journal entries and associated balance sheet reconciliations.
  2. Prepare cash flow projections and review with corporate office every two months.
  3. Prepare quarterly bank inventory file.
  4. Assist with quarterly SOX control testing and annual audit testing, including providing evidence for payments and user validation.
  5. Assist with corporate office requests on bank account maintenance, such as opening and closing accounts, coordinating meetings among bank, corporate treasury, and CFO, updating banking setup including users and wire templates, and funding among bank accounts when needed.
  6. Other ad hoc projects as assigned.
What experience you need :
  1. 7+ years of experience in the accounting field with management experience.
  2. Experience working for a global corporation and Big 4 audit/mid-sized accounting firm.
  3. Experience in Canadian tax reporting and compliance.
  4. Bachelor’s Degree in accounting.
  5. Proficiency in Excel.
What could set you apart :
  1. Experience in Oracle Financials and Hyperion Financial Management preferred.
  2. Experience in general ledger postings and reconciliations.
