The Opportunity

Our Rideau Area Operations Team is seeking a Skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team at the Cornwall Compressor Station in Martintown, ON. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with high-pressure natural gas pipelines and systems, including gas turbine and reciprocating engine compressors. We seek a self-starter with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills, capable of working independently.

Work Schedule

The regular work schedule for this position will be:

  • Week 1 - Monday to Thursday, 9 hours per day; Friday off
  • Week 2 - Monday to Thursday, 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday
What You’ll Do
  • Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain various gas and auxiliary equipment including large-bore reciprocating engines, compressors, standby generators, pumps, boilers, coolers, air compressors, valves, and more.
  • Assist in engine and compressor overhauls, including components like heads, pistons, rings, and bearings.
  • Operate compressor engines and support equipment, perform precision measurements, and analyze engine performance reports.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics (P&ID and electrical).
  • Assist with pipeline repairs, operate and maintain valves, regulators, and relief valves.
  • Perform pipeline blow down, purge, pressurization, and station maintenance tasks.
  • Plan and perform mechanical maintenance activities, including corrective, preventive, and major projects.
  • Lead safety initiatives and complete work orders using SAP.
  • Other tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in natural gas or energy industries, military experience considered.
  • Completion of a second-year trades program or equivalent vocational/technical training.
  • Additional certifications as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large bore reciprocating engines and turbines.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, compressors, turbines, and generators.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems and SAP.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Successful completion of medical, drug, and alcohol screening.
  • Availability for 24/7 emergency call-out, extended work hours, and travel for assignments.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather, lift heavy loads, and work in cramped conditions.

Driving is an essential job function. Post-offer, motor vehicle records will be checked.
