Job description

Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting / repair, and customer training support for all LB Foster friction management equipment and products.

Coordinate with external customers and internal departments for product development and relationship-building initiatives.

Work outdoors on railway trucks under various weather conditions.

Manage personal travel expenses, tools, and company-issued resources responsibly.

Document and report all work-related activities, including travel, expenses, and daily reports.

Communicate effectively with Railway personnel to plan and schedule daily activities.

Travel regularly out of town and be flexible with work shifts.

Experience & Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, electrical systems, and schematics reading.
  • Certification in E-Railsafe and RWP for applicable client railways, plus additional customer-specific training.
  • CDL or Transport Canada Physical Card preferred for driving trucks over 26,000 LBS GVW, but not mandatory.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with good time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and ability to work independently.
  • Technical writing skills for report submissions.
  • Adherence to safety and operating rules for client railways.
  • Use of PPE (Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Hearing protection).
  • Potential role as Watchman / lookout, requiring full attention to train approach warnings.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, handle objects, climb, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Operate impact tools, power tools, and manual earth-moving equipment.
  • Extensive travel across North America and possibly overseas.
  • Availability for overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capability to lift/move up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks on uneven surfaces.
  • Work near moving equipment and trains, with exposure to various hazards and weather conditions.
