Position Overview

We’re looking for aLead Full-Stack Developerto be our first in-house technical hire and help us build our first proprietary software product.

You’ll work closely with our Chief Product Officer (CPO) to research, architect, build, and launch an intuitive, robust, AI-enhanced accounting platform.

You will lead development across the stack and have the flexibility to engage external consultants (AI, UX/UI, security) as needed, with architectural guidance from a Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Your primary partnership will be with the Chief Product Officer, helping turn product strategy into thoughtful and scalable technology decisions.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a startup environment, loves figuring things out, and builds with users at the center of every decision.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Full-Stack Development: Design and build the full platform including frontend UIs, backend services, APIs, integrations, and infrastructure.
• Choose the Stack: Work alongside our CTO to select and define the technologies that will power our platform (Python is preferred for backend).
• Set Up DevOps and Infrastructure: Build pipelines, security, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring tools for a scalable and stable product.
• Research & Shape AI Strategy: Explore options for AI integration and help determine the right people, partners, and solutions to work with as we grow.
• User-Centric Product Thinking: Understand user journeys and be comfortable challenging design decisions to ensure the product delights users.
• Define Development Standards: Establish coding, documentation, and architecture best practices for scale and long-term maintainability.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work directly with the CPO, consultants, and future hires to execute the product roadmap.

Who You Are

• Experienced & Versatile: 5+ years of full-stack development experience, with experience building platforms or complex systems from the ground up.
• Startup-Tested: You’ve thrived in lean, fast-paced environments and know how to prioritize, adapt, and deliver.
• Product-Minded: You’re curious and thoughtful about the “why” behind every feature and want to build for real user needs.
• Strong Communicator: Able to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-Starter: You take ownership, figure things out, and work independently while collaborating closely with the leadership team.
• Problem Solver: You don’t just deliver—you craft smart, thoughtful solutions.

Bonus Points For

• Experience building or integrating fintech or accounting platforms.
• Previous technical lead, architecture, or mentorship experience.
• Strong DevOps and infrastructure background (AWS, GCP, etc.).
• Experience designing or integrating AI/ML solutions (or a passion to learn).
• Familiarity with accounting integrations like QuickBooks, Dext, or Plaid.

Location

This is ahybrid rolebased inVernon, BC.

We typically meet in person a few days per week, with flexibility for remote work the rest of the time.
