The Opportunity

Reporting to the Academic Chair, SADT seeks a casual instructor for the Cyber Security for Control Systems (CSCS) Post Diploma program. The program develops skills to identify and interpret information security threats in a business context, using industry-standard frameworks to propose practical risk mitigation solutions. The instructor manages student learning, ensuring achievement of objectives, utilizing resources and strategies to support success. Collaboration with colleagues and regular communication with course leads are essential. This is a 6-month contract ending October 2023, with potential for extension.

The Role
  • Prepare and deliver lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, and lab activities.
  • Maintain records for grading, professionalism, and attendance tracking.
  • Manage the classroom/lab environment to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Engage with students and provide ongoing support and guidance.
  • Assist in curriculum development.
  • Manage lab environments, including scheduling and equipment use.
  • Maintain contact with industry sectors.
  • Participate in curriculum and program reviews.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Post-secondary education (minimum two-year diploma) and at least five years of related industry experience.
  • IBM Skills Academy Certification is an asset.
  • Teaching experience at a Canadian post-secondary institution is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in: designing user interfaces, secure coding in C and Python, network protocols, ICS standards, storage configuration, embedded OS, scripting, computer security, web security, encryption.

Salary range: $37.88/hr
