Job Description

The successful candidate will be a General Transportation Claims Adjuster working in a hybrid setup in Edmonton, Alberta. They will evaluate large loss claims, focusing on property (commercial and transportation) claims through loss investigation, and be responsible for negotiating settlements following provincial licensing requirements while maintaining production levels and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  1. Review and analyze experts’ reports
  2. Select and direct independent experts
  3. Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities
  4. Secure and manage litigation disposition plans and budgets
  5. Record file activities and transactions accurately in Crawford and Company and client systems
  6. Maintain accurate expense accounts
  7. Work with the manager to maintain client relations
  8. Collaborate with all facets of the insurance community, including brokers, risk managers, legal counsel, and regulators

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of claims handling experience in large loss, transportation, heavy equipment, and cargo losses
  • Background in construction and property, specializing in project management, quantification, and appraisal
  • Experience in commercial policy interpretation and market recommendations
  • Active adjuster license or working towards CIP and/or FCIP designation
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel regularly to loss sites
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Team player with excellent customer service skills
  • Willing to work in a dynamic environment with growth opportunities
