Job description

Northern Plains Transport Ltd. is an innovative leader in selling, marketing, and distributing petroleum products, equipment, and supplies to industrial, commercial, agricultural, and retail customers in Canada.

ROLE :

This position works within Northern Plains Transport, and third-party data management systems supporting our Dispatch, Safety, Maintenance, and Operations teams. Personnel work on rotating shifts providing coverage 7 days per week. The work shift is 12 hours per day, from 07:00 to 19:00, with 1 hour for lunch. There is a requirement for on-call availability with the dispatch cell phone during off-duty hours while on shift cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  1. Maintenance : Monitor and update the automated Fleet Maintenance System. Review Automated Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports, identify maintenance & repair items reported by drivers, and perform other duties as assigned.
  2. Safety - HS&E : Monitor and update the automated Driver Qualification System. Oversee the Driver Daily Log portal to identify non-compliance with regulatory standards. Assist drivers in maintaining compliance. Other duties as assigned.
  3. Operations : Communicate daily with internal and external customers. Support and guide driving staff. Assist the production team as needed, including lifting or moving items weighing up to 20kg. Other duties as assigned.
  4. Dispatch : Receive and dispatch orders from customers. Prioritize deliveries based on urgency, importance, and routing. Use phone or computer to dispatch drivers, equipment, and response personnel. Monitor delivery routes and statuses, provide real-time updates on orders, traffic, weather, and highway conditions. Record data and activities in the system.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :

Proficiency in English (oral and written). Knowledge of Bengali, Tagalog, or Hindi is an asset. Experience as a petroleum dispatcher or similar in the trucking industry. Familiarity with transportation software such as Motive, Office Track, and Carriers Edge. Tech-savvy with the ability to learn new systems. Understanding of equipment maintenance terminology and requirements. Accurate data entry skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication and active listening skills. Sound judgment, critical thinking, self-motivation, and teamwork. A high school diploma or post-secondary degree. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. A valid Class 5 Driver License is required; a Class 1 license is an asset.
