Job description

DESIGNATED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS - SUPPLY POSITIONS

This posting is intended for external applicants. Successful candidates through this interview process will be added to the SMCDSB's shortlist of recommended DECE employees for permanent and supply positions.

Position Type: 10-month per year position

Location: in 42 of our Elementary Schools

Hours: Up to 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Salary: Supply DECE Rate: $25.07/Hour

Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Catholic classroom teacher to plan and implement a full-day early learning program supporting faith initiatives within a Catholic classroom setting. The role includes supervising students and providing age-appropriate Catholic programming.

Required Qualifications
  • A two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma and proof of registration and good standing with The College of Early Childhood Educators (photocopy of registration certificate required)
  • Minimum of six months childcare experience in a childcare or educational setting
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (photocopy of certificates required)
Skills & Competencies
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day early learning program and related legislation; knowledge of SMCDSB policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability and experience working as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with children, parents, staff, and the public.
  • Understanding of confidentiality commitments.
  • Classroom management and emergency response skills.
  • Experience in designing and implementing Catholic programs.
  • Basic computer skills, organization, and time management skills.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 20kg), and assist children physically.

  • Proof of registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Board interviews are ongoing. Incomplete applications will not be considered. A Catholic priest's Pastoral Letter of Reference is required for application completeness.
