Your Opportunity at SECURE Energy

The Landfill Operator is expected to familiarize themselves with all operations at the landfill, including scale operation, heavy equipment operation, truck ticketing system, landfill and building maintenance, and sampling. The individual in this role will be in constant contact with customers and therefore must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a high level of customer service. As this is a safety-sensitive role and due to the nature of working conditions, the successful candidate must be mentally and physically fit to perform the tasks and responsibilities of this role. This position works on a 7 days on, 7 days off shift, consisting of 12-hour work days. The role is a temporary position lasting 12 months. The Saddle Hills Landfill is located 44 KM east of Dawson Creek, BC, 21 KM east of the BC/Alberta border, and 67 KM west of Rycroft, AB.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Safe operation of heavy equipment, pumps, scale operation, and maintenance
  • Landfill, building, and site housekeeping maintenance
  • Random sample gathering and analysis
  • General labor duties as required
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Computer programs
Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations and safe work practices
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Experience in oilfield waste management, heavy equipment, and valid industry safety tickets required
  • At least 1 year of equipment operation experience
  • Solid communication and customer service skills
  • Responsible, reliable team member with the ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision
  • Availability and desire to work shift work
