Role Overview

As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical vision, leading the development team, and bridging the gap between technology and business goals. You’ll be responsible for inspiring a high-performing team while being hands-on when needed, ensuring the delivery of innovative and scalable e-commerce solutions.

Role is open to remote candidates in Canada or the US.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership: Drive accountability and inspire a high-performing engineering team to deliver world-class digital experiences.
2. Client-Facing & Consultative: Engage with clients to understand their business needs and provide strategic technical solutions.
3. Shopify Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge of Shopify’s ecosystem and roadmap to drive e-commerce success.
4. Team Builder & Motivator: Lead, mentor, and empower the development team, fostering a culture of innovation and growth.
5. Hands-On & Adaptable: Be strategic yet willing to get hands-on with the code when needed.
6. Growth-Oriented: Play an active role in building and scaling the company, contributing to overall business strategy.
7. Industry Passion: Stay on top of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience in a leadership role within an engineering team, preferably in an e-commerce or digital agency setting.
2. Deep expertise with Shopify and the broader Shopify ecosystem (APIs, custom development, integrations).
3. Strong client-facing and consultative skills, with a strategic mindset to bridge business and technology.
4. Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with a track record of inspiring high-performance teams.
5. Hands-on coding experience, with the ability to contribute to the codebase when needed.
6. Passion for e-commerce and digital experiences, with a growth-oriented mindset.
7. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
