Job Status: Temporary Full-Time

The City of Kitchener is hiring summer students to help Parks Infrastructure and Amenities with the maintenance and cleanup of our trails, playgrounds, courts, and outdoor furniture.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the maintenance of trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and outdoor furniture.
  • Helps maintain resilient surfaces for playgrounds.
  • Assists staff with the removal of graffiti.
  • Maintains trails; prunes overgrown vegetation along trails.
  • Empties garbage receptacles and removes debris at various locations around the City.
  • Keeps play equipment and trail system free from litter and debris.
  • Operates gas powered leaf blower, hedge trimmer, line trimmer, and gas powered side by side UTV.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Valid MTO “G2” class driver's license in good standing and must be able to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding a valid MTO “G” class license.
  • Minimum educational equivalent to partial secondary school education.
  • Up to 1 month of related experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have a willingness to accept directions.
  • Ability to perform physical labour.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
