Job description

Position Overview

This position offers a regular full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) to prepare staff for work in a specified Island Health specialty department. Upon successful completion, staff will be placed into a full-time rotation within the department they trained for.

Additional Notes

There is an 18-month return of service requirement as a permanent employee within the Island Health specialty department. Staff may transfer between departments within the same specialty. Reporting and Responsibilities

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in hospital or community settings, following the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.

Qualifications
  • Registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
  • Recent medical and/or surgical experience.
  • Post-training, candidates will be assigned to a regular position within the specialty department.
