Job description

Raise is currently hiring a Construction Officer - Electrical (substation) on behalf of our client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada. This is a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader as they expand their team to meet growing needs.

Details:

  • Pay Rate: $60.40/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 1 Year
  • Location: Vernon, British Columbia

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; applications from candidates interested in an INC classification will also be considered, where applicable.

Description

The Construction Officer - Electrical (substation) will act as the site construction coordinator and inspector on substation interconnection projects across BC.

Responsibilities
  1. Inspect construction work on substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and construction methods to meet deadlines.
  2. Prioritize site safety by conducting Safe Work Observations and adhering to safety regulations to enhance safety performance.
  3. Coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities, utilizing engineering drawings to facilitate project progression, often under adverse weather conditions or at heights/underground.
  4. Support contract administration by collaborating with contractors and internal teams to ensure work quality, materials, progress, and costs meet expectations.
  5. Provide technical advice as a subject matter expert to develop future capabilities.
  6. Respond to construction inquiries professionally, representing the organization effectively on-site.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years as a certified Red Seal Electrician with utility experience, capable of acting as site construction coordinator and inspector on interconnection projects.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel.
  • Willing to work at various remote sites across BC.
  • Preferred:
    • Intermediate First Aid Certification.
    • Experience in substation construction.
    • Knowledge of Site Safety Coordination and WorkSafe regulations.
  • Education & Skills:
    • Certified Red Seal Electrician.
    • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
