Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in modeling and simulations using the Ansys tool. The candidate should have solid experience with military standards (Mil-Stds), design and development of cables, interconnects, and rack-mounted enclosures, as well as a keen understanding of material properties. The role requires a proactive approach to design-to-cost strategies for manufacturing purposes and the ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

As a Mechanical Engineer, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Utilize Ansys for advanced modeling and simulations to assess, analyze, and optimize mechanical system designs.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable Mil-Stds and other defense-related guidelines and best practices.
  • Develop and implement design solutions for cables, interconnects, and rack-mounted enclosures.
  • Conduct material selection based on operational requirements while considering weight, strength, cost, and other critical factors.
  • Integrate design-to-cost principles in product development to ensure economical manufacturing while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality control, to ensure product designs are optimized for production.
  • Lead design reviews and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge on best practices in mechanical design and Ansys simulations.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and documentation to meet company standards and customer expectations.

What you require to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience for Intermediate Engineers and 8+ years for Senior Engineers in mechanical design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in Ansys for modeling and simulations is required.
  • Familiarity with military standards (Mil-Stds) relating to mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in the design and development of cables, interconnects, and rack-mounted enclosures.
  • Knowledge of materials and their applications in mechanical design.
  • Proven capability in applying design-to-cost principles for manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with thermal and structural analysis of mechanical systems. Knowledge of industry-specific design standards and regulations.
