Job description

On behalf of our Utilities Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for an Electronics Service Technologist to join our Client's team on a full-time permanent basis. This role is onsite and the Client is based in Burnaby, BC.
Summary of the Role:

The Service Technologist will work on returned smart grid and IoT hardware devices at the Client’s Burnaby facility. This role involves hardware triage, diagnostics, testing, and repairs, along with support for Quality and Engineering teams through investigations and upgrades. The ideal candidate will apply their hands-on electronics experience in a dynamic and technical environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Diagnose, test, and repair returned hardware products.
  2. Support quality control through failure investigations and root cause analysis.
  3. Perform firmware upgrades and visual inspections.
  4. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic test jigs.
  5. Assist with data entry, reporting, and shipping/receiving processes.
Core Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with analog and digital electronics.
  • Proficiency in surface-mount and through-hole soldering.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware using tools like oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with RF hardware and RF testing tools.
  • Familiarity with smart grid, IoT, or embedded systems.
  • Background in test jig development or maintenance.
  • Exposure to quality standards or certification frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001, UL).
  • Experience with basic database operations and reporting.
Terms:

This is a full-time permanent position based onsite in Burnaby, BC. At the offer stage, candidates will be required to provide three professional references and consent to a background check. Details regarding additional compensation elements such as benefits or bonuses are to be announced.
