Additional Information

  • Candidates must be members in good standing or in the process of becoming OCT qualified with the Ontario College of Teachers prior to the start date.
  • External applicants will need to provide at least three professional, supervisory teaching references, including full name, position, work location, and email, during the online application process. References will not be contacted before practicum/interview.
  • Internal applicants should include all relevant teaching experiences and two references, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator.
  • A satisfactory police record check, including a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC), is required within six months before the start date. It must be obtained in Canada and be acceptable to YRDSB. Candidates are responsible for submitting the results as instructed.

We accept PVSCs from other Ontario employers or school boards obtained within the last six months.

Referees may include:

  • Principal/Vice-Principal who supervised your teaching practice;
  • Faculty or Practicum Advisor who evaluated your teaching in a classroom;
  • Mentor Teacher who supervised your teaching in elementary/secondary settings;
  • Other professional references attesting to your teaching practice.
