Job summary

A leading flight simulation training company is seeking a developer with expertise in AS400 applications. The role involves maintaining and modernizing applications using RPG, CL, and SQL, with a focus on API integration and database optimization. This is a remote position with a contract length of 6 months or more.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of AS400 / iSeries experience in RPG, CLP, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with APIs (REST), JSON, XML, and web service integration.
• Experience with cloud integration (AWS, Azure) is a plus.

Compensation : up to $70 / hour commensurate with experience

Location : 100% Remote

Length of Contract : 6 Months +

Position Description and Responsibilities :

• Develop, enhance, and maintain applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform using RPG, CL, and SQL .
• Work on application modernization projects, including API integration (REST / SOAP) .
• Design and optimize DB2 for i (AS400) databases, including indexing, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Develop and integrate web services (REST APIs, JSON, XML) for interoperability with modern applications.
• Utilize IBM i Web Services to extend AS400 functionalities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend and backend developers.

Qualifications :

• 5+ years of AS400 / iSeries experience in RPG, CLP, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with APIs (REST), JSON, XML , and web service integration.
• Experience with cloud integration (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
• Understanding of security best practices for IBM i applications.
