The salary scale for Professional Support 3 ranges from $68,917.73 to $91,624.25. New hires may receive up to seven steps based on relevant experience, up to a maximum of $80,254.49 annually.

This position is designated for candidates from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Build early relationships with students to support their transition into the College, provide educational and career advisement, and assist in transitioning out to employment.
  • Help students make decisions, solve problems, and navigate NSCC supports and services, as well as community resources.
  • Plan and deliver events and activities that promote student growth, engagement, and leadership.
  • Advise students in areas including Career, Enrolment, Finance, Learning, Student Life, and Wellness.
  • Support students requesting specialized supports within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across campuses.

For example, you will:

  • Provide opportunities for exploring career and employment options.
  • Assist students in understanding college policies, program choices, and financial planning.
  • Engage students through recreational, cultural, and social activities.
  • Refer students to internal learning disability and counselling supports.
  • Refer students to community services and supports.

You will be part of campus and provincial Student Services teams, collaborating with Academic Chairs and Faculty to tailor services to student and program needs.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree is required; majors in Student Affairs, Adult Education, or Social Sciences are assets.
  • At least three years of recent, relevant experience in supporting students or adults in personal, academic, or career development.
  • Experience advising in a post-secondary setting is an asset.
  • Experience supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Teams, email, and student record systems like PeopleSoft.
  • Comfort with digital environments and a commitment to leveraging technology for student success.

  • Culturally competent with a commitment to equity; experience with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is a strong asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build trust.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
