The Benefits, Disability and Wellbeing Manager is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and leading the day-to-day functionality and administration of the Benefits Disability, & Wellbeing programs, including post-retirement benefit programs. Manage a team of 3.
This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.
About The Role:
- Develop and manage comprehensive employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and flexible spending accounts.
- Provide guidance and counsel to employees, HR and HRIS team members and managers. Review and update plan documents and internal websites.
- Partner with brokers, vendors, and insurance carriers to negotiate competitive rates and ensure quality service delivery. Ensure all data exports are working as expected and that members are successfully onboarded and offboarded.
- Conduct regular market analysis to maintain competitive benefits offerings.
- Develop and deliver effective communication materials, presentations, and resources to enhance employee understanding of available programs.
- Lead open enrollment processes, including communication strategy, employee education, and system configuration.
- Facilitate the projection of the annual benefits budget through the preparation of member data and other relevant reports.
Disability & Wellbeing Management:
- Lead the disability and leaves claim and accommodation process.
- Be the escalation point of contact and guide Sr Disability Specialist with difficult claims and arrange for alternate methods such as an Independent Medical Exam (IMEs) as required, to clarify capabilities.
- Ensure STD/LTD claims and workplace injuries/accommodations requests are submitted on time to the external Disability Management partner through the online portals, and the required documentation from employer are completed and filed with the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Partner with Symcor’s external service provider team to ensure compliance to the disability/leave process and manage a proactive, efficient and effective process. Institute an appropriate cadence of case reviews.
- Manage all wellbeing initiatives and implement holistic employee wellbeing initiatives, including mental health, financial wellness, and other wellbeing programs.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to promote an inclusive, supportive, and healthy workplace culture.
- Track program participation and effectiveness, recommending improvements as necessary.
What You Need To Succeed:
Education:
- College or University graduate or equivalent education and work experience. Completion of a recognized Human Resources Management certificate program. CEBS designation preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years experience in Canadian Benefits administration.
- Knowledge of HR trends and best practices specific to Benefits and wellbeing programs.
- Strong understanding of benefits governance.
Skill Requirements:
- Strong mathematical skills for financial analysis with the ability to prepare cost/benefit determinations.
- Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient or expert in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and familiarity with HRMS.
- Proven ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment.
- Experience working in a non-unionized and unionized environment preferred.
