Who are we looking for?

Our Southern Ontario offices in Whitby, Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, and St. Catherines are seeking a Senior CAD / BIM designer - Bridges to join our expanding Canadian Transportation Group.

The Transportation Group in GHD Canada collaborates with provincial, regional, municipal transportation agencies, and select contractors on large-scale projects across the transportation spectrum, including highways, roads, bridges, transit, and multi-modal infrastructure. We provide integrated services throughout the project lifecycle, from policy and economics to detailed design, construction administration, and asset management.

This role is ideal for senior CAD / BIM leads aiming to advance their careers in transportation structure design for municipalities, MTO, IO, and major transportation partners. It is also suitable for experienced Intermediate Designers seeking to specialize further in transportation structures and embrace modern engineering design technologies.

Working with a dynamic team, your responsibilities will include:

1. Transforming engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., into formal working drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and codes.
2. Providing project design leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff.
3. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, municipalities, utility companies, and other stakeholders.
4. Applying technical manuals to ensure adherence to company policies and standards such as CSA and MTO Details.
5. Learning visualization software platforms (e.g., Infraworks) and design programming (e.g., Dynamo) is considered an asset.

What you will bring to the team

• 15+ years of relevant experience in bridge and steel/concrete structure design.
• Experience with bridge rehabilitation techniques and methodologies.
• Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley, and ProjectWise.
• Skilled in Microstation (asset).
• Ability to work effectively in large, multidisciplinary, and regional teams.
• Diploma in Structural Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
• Ability to work independently and lead project teams.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.
