Job description

Where: Blood Indian Park, Alberta

Key Duties will include:

  • Project Oversight: Supervise parks-related capital and maintenance projects, including tracking budgets, obtaining material quotes, and coordinating with private contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Customer Service & Public Engagement: Ensure a positive experience for park visitors by addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner. Foster a welcoming environment by supporting frontline staff in delivering high-quality customer service and resolving visitor issues effectively.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and light repairs on parks equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Conduct physical repairs and upkeep of park infrastructure and grounds, addressing tasks such as landscaping, building maintenance, concrete work, irrigation system upkeep, and weed control.
  • Seasonal Staff Supervision: Oversee daily activities of parks staff as directed by the Parks Supervisor, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, efficient work practices, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Seasonal Assignments: During the off-season months (November through April), this position may be assigned to Facilities, the Youngstown Service Centre, or Maintenance Shops/District Offices to perform duties such as snow removal, carpentry assistance, parts deliveries, and general labour.

Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED) - combination of experience/education to be considered.
  • 2-5 years of maintenance and/or construction supervisory experience preferred.
  • Class 5 Drivers' Licence.
  • Pesticide Applicator License - Core/Landscape/Industrial.
  • Working knowledge of MS Suite.
  • Be capable of performing demanding physical tasks and work in rain or shine weather conditions.
  • Working knowledge in the care and use of tools and equipment common to these positions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact, and discretion and use good judgement.

Preference may be given to candidates possessing:

  • Mechanical and Carpentry background.
  • This is a designated safety-sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing is required.
  • Ready and available to work weekends, including long weekends during peak periods of operations - May through October.
