Job description

As a Vice President, you will manage a team of professionals overseeing a trading credit portfolio and facilitating transactions originated by RBC Capital Markets (CM). Your responsibilities include partnering with CM to identify and recommend suitable counterparties, evaluating and screening credit requests, preparing risk assessments, coordinating documentation, structuring credit mitigations, and optimizing revenues. You will maintain relationships with RBC CM coverage professionals, Group Risk Management, and other stakeholders to ensure client needs are met promptly, including addressing credit requirements. Additionally, you will develop and maintain client relationships to enhance credit management and explore business opportunities.

What will you do?

  • Manage a team of professionals.
  • Proactively manage counterparty credit risks supporting RBC CM business.
  • Prepare transaction requests timely for Global Markets credit activities, including seeking and defending limits and assisting with KYC/AML and regulatory onboarding.
  • Develop client strategies for top-tier relationships to enhance client experience and support revenue growth.
  • Maintain an understanding of RBC trading policies and guidelines.
  • Foster relationships with global CM sales and trading professionals to facilitate transactions and optimize business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Group Risk Management, Law Group, and other internal teams.
  • Conduct due diligence and financial analysis of counterparties and industry data for credit proposals.
  • Provide market intelligence for risk assessment using various sources.
  • Support credit review processes and ensure compliance management within your portfolio.
  • Manage a portfolio of trading counterparties.
  • Assist sales and relationship teams in developing business cases and risk strategies.
  • Contribute to structuring and monitoring credit requests, supporting revenue generation and risk management.
  • Ensure timely receipt and processing of client data.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have's

  • Minimum education: Honours B.A. or B. Comm.; post-graduate degree (MBA, CFA) preferred.
  • At least 10 years of credit experience within financial institutions, including risk and account management.
  • Knowledge of global markets trading products (FX, Rates, Equities, Fixed income).
  • Strong credit analysis skills.
  • Experience with trading documentation (ISDA, GMRA) and reviewing legal documents.
  • Understanding of diverse client types and industries.
  • Leadership, analytical, critical thinking, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; research skills; financial statement analysis; legal document review aptitude.
  • Effective client management skills.
