Job description

Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment (tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift gates, light-duty vehicles) to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet's lifecycle. This includes, but is not limited to, First Article Inspection (FAI) / Commercial Vehicle Inspection (CVI) (Annual) Inspections. Conduct quality preventive maintenance inspections on all fleet vehicles and company-owned equipment, performing necessary repairs to ensure safety and reliability.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform maintenance repairs such as inspections, scheduled repairs, malfunctions, and road-call repairs safely and efficiently, addressing all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) write-ups accurately the first time. Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs per manufacturer specifications, including engines, transmissions, clutches, drive-lines, differentials, steering, suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems (including regeneration systems), intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  2. Document all work performed on Work Orders (SAP) using the Complaint, Cause, and Correction format.
  3. Develop proficiency in all Maintenance-Related Sysco Computer programs.
Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training from a 2-year school.

Experience

  • Either 1 year of experience with a 2-year technical degree or 3 years of fleet maintenance and repair experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • ASE Certification in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty.
  • Valid Driver's License; CDL-A preferred.
  • Annual Inspector Certification.
  • Brake Inspector Certification.
Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
  • Skill in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems.
  • Welding and cutting skills (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
  • Proficiency with computer-based diagnostic software for OEM components.
