Casual Program Support Worker-Adult Day Program

Position Summary

The Adult Day Program – Casual Relief is responsible for delivering programs and services supporting people living with dementia and their care partners. Reporting to the Manager, Community Support.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support activities of daily living (ADL) such as toileting, eating, walking, dressing for outdoors
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs for clients
  • Support clients in activities like chair exercises, arts and crafts, sing-alongs
  • Participate in client debriefings to monitor and report on client status and changes
  • Serve as a resource for volunteers and students
  • Contribute to activities, socialization, exercises, mental aerobics, and meals
  • Engage in training and educational opportunities related to the program
  • Ensure safety and security measures are followed according to policies
  • Maintain client information files
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

  • Certification as a Personal Support Worker, Dementia Studies, or equivalent
  • Experience with diverse communities and populations
  • Experience or volunteering in an Adult Day Program
  • Training in recreation, gerontology, or related fields
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Patience, dependability, sense of humor, respect, and compassion
  • Participation in relevant training
  • Basic food handling knowledge
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, adequate insurance
  • Respect for client privacy and confidentiality

Language and Computer Competencies

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); French and other languages are assets
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and CIMS

Shift and Additional Information

This position is on-call with varying hours including days, evenings, and weekends.
