the position of

Occupational Therapist Position 1.0 FTE (one year with a possibility of extension)

Position Title: Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)

Contract Type: Full-Time (1.00 FTE, 40 hours/week)

Work Schedule: 10-month position (August 25, 2025 – June 30, 2026)

Work Hours: 8:00 - 4:00

Location: Multiple school sites

STAR Catholic Schools serves approximately 4,700 students across 12 schools located in various communities including Beaumont, Leduc, Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, Lacombe, and Drayton Valley. The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of occupational therapy services in educational settings. Under the guidance of a registered Occupational Therapist, the OTA will assist in implementing individualized and group intervention strategies to support students' motor, sensory, self-help, and regulatory skills.

Key Responsibilities

Support students with fine motor, visual motor, self-help, and sensory regulation needs.

Deliver interventions based on treatment plans provided by the supervising Occupational Therapist.

Develop and implement classroom-based group activities that promote student development.

Collaborate with teachers and the Occupational Therapist to tailor strategies and programming for individual and small group needs.

Assist students in achieving success across physical, intellectual, and socio-emotional domains.

Prepare and adapt materials to align with therapy goals and student needs.

Track and document student progress in collaboration with the supervising Occupational Therapist and classroom staff.

Diploma in Occupational Therapy Assistant / Physical Therapy Assistant.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates must provide the following prior to the start date:

Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check): Must be an original document dated within 6 months of hire.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
