Great Big Theatre Company is seeking Theatre Coaches for its summer Theatre Arts Day Camps in 2024. Approximately 40 positions are available for a two-month period during July and August across 14 locations in the GTA and southwest Ontario.
This salaried role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and young people, possess some theatrical experience, and are qualified to supervise and instruct. A background in university-level drama is an asset but not mandatory.
Applicants must have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), which should be arranged in advance due to potential delays. CPR/First-aid certification is also beneficial, as is personal transportation.
The role involves supervising activities, ensuring children's safety and well-being, and facilitating drama instruction and games. The goal is to prepare children aged 6 to 14 for an end-of-week performance. Working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with possible extended hours. Compensation starts at $18.20/hr, with potential increases based on experience and qualifications.
Some supervisory roles are available at higher pay rates, requiring extensive travel and personal vehicle ownership. Camp locations include Burlington, Hamilton/Dundas, Etobicoke, Guelph, London, Mississauga, North York, Oakville, Oshawa, Richmond Hill, Toronto/Beach, Waterloo, and Whitby.
