Job description

Solar Installer
Full-time Permanent
Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia
$22-$27 per hour
Shift Energy Group is hiring a Solar Installer to join our Mount Uniacke field crew and help bring solar energy projects to life across NS. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on construction experience — especially roofing or carpentry — who’s ready to grow in the renewable energy industry.
We're a leader in designing and building solar and energy storage projects across Canada. We work on residential, commercial, off-grid, and on-grid projects, offering comprehensive solar and energy storage solutions tailored to diverse energy needs.
Headquartered in Victoria, BC, we operate in five provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Our mission is to deliver exceptional, sustainable energy solutions that drive positive change and move the industry forward.
About the Role
As a Solar Installer, you’ll be on the front lines of our installations — assembling and mounting solar modules and panels as specified by the system designers. You’ll work closely with your crew and report to the Crew Lead and Field Manager, helping deliver residential and commercial solar PV systems on time and on point.
From assembling rooftop equipment and sealing all roof penetrations to performing trenching and concrete work, you'll play a hands-on role in every phase of the build. Your attention to detail and team-first mindset will ensure each project is completed to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble & install solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified by system designers.
  • Assemble rooftop equipment and properly seal all roof penetrations.
  • Perform trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly as required.
  • Interface with the Crew Lead and Field Manager to ensure compliance with system design and necessary codes
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the process.
  • Working in a team environment on the assigned projects
  • All other duties as seen necessary.
What We’re Looking For:
  • At least 1 year of construction experience; roofing or solar installation is a plus
  • Familiarity with hand tools and working safely on rooftops
  • Valid fall protection certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid Driver’s License (Clean driving abstract and a Criminal Record Check is required)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work outdoors in all conditions
  • A positive attitude, team mindset, and strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
  • Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions and jobsite environments
  • Working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
  • Lifting, bending, standing, and other repetitive tasks
  • Travel throughout NS with occasional overnight stays for out-of-town projects
We Offer:
  • Competitive wage: $22–$27/hr based on experience
  • Extended health, dental, and wellness benefits
  • RRSP matching, paid time off and opportunities for professional development
  • Per diem for travel for out-of-town projects.
  • Regular training and certifications (Fall Protection, WHMIS, etc.)
  • An inclusive and forward-thinking team culture with annual team-building events and activities
Details
  • Location: 14 Alicia Scott Ave, Mount Uniacke, NS B0N 1Z0
  • Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am- 4:00 pm
  • This position involves regular travel throughout Nova Scotia, and the candidate should be comfortable with occasional overnight stays and out-of-town projects.
