Job description

Overall Objectives:

  1. Develop specifications and bid packages for facility projects.
  2. Manage construction and equipment installation projects.
  3. Develop equipment standards and operating procedures for the operation of facility equipment.
  4. Manage third party maintenance services of facility equipment and buildings.

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

  1. Take ownership of building electrical and mechanical systems including building power distribution, controls, HVAC, cooling and compressed air systems.
  2. Investigate and resolve deficiencies to facility building and equipment.
  3. Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable codes, regulations and standards.
  4. Work with internal customers to provide solutions to equipment and building upgrades.
  5. Develop scope of work for facility construction and equipment installation projects and support the bid process.
  6. Project Manager for facility projects to meet timing, specifications and cost objectives.
  7. Manage outside contractor services supporting building and equipment maintenance and repairs.
  8. Write purchase requisitions for material and services for facility engineering.
  9. Develop and promote efficiency improvements in building systems to reduce utility usage and maintenance costs.
  10. Ensure owner's interests are protected with respect to health and safety, cost, schedule, liability and function on facility construction and renovation projects.
  11. Primary area of responsibility is within company's facilities located in Windsor.
  12. Willingness to accept a variety of assignments including those that fall outside of electrical engineering.

Requirements:

  1. 3-5 years engineering experience with facility mechanical such as HVAC, utilities, air compressors, cooling towers and bridge cranes.
  2. Detailed knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, TSSA standards, OHSA, CSA and local by-laws.
  3. Ability to interpret and develop electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.
  4. Experience in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and MS Teams.
  5. Experience working in a unionized environment.
  6. Strong project management skills, organizational skills, teamwork, written and verbal communication.
  7. Driving Required.

Education:

  1. Bachelors of Applied Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
