The Opportunity: Workshop Plant Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Location: Stafford, Beacon Barracks, Beaconside, Stafford, ST18 0AQ

Salary: £36,933 Plus Bonus

We are a joint venture between Amey and Briggs Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Proactively maintain and repair a fleet of AmeyBriggs assets identified as part of the Service Life Extension Programme (SLEP).
  2. Maximise operational availability by investigating, understanding, and eliminating faults to ensure rapid, cost-effective fixes while maintaining safety and effectiveness.
  3. Complete SLEP standard tasks within provided guidelines.
  4. Repair, maintain, inspect, and service Plant and HGV equipment to current standards and legislation (LOLER and PUWER).
  5. Maintain local stocks of spares, accessories, attachments, and technical documentation.
  6. Identify additional work required and liaise with the SLEP Centre Supervisor.
  7. Follow the NFW&T process for any damage found, ensuring customer awareness.
  8. Identify potential revenue from damaged equipment.
  9. Liaise with the SLEP Centre Supervisor / Equipment Sustainability Manager regarding work scope, timescales, and costs.
  10. Undertake out-of-hours duties, including weekends, as required.
  11. Achieve local or team goals and KPIs.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in plant, forklift, and HGV maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety, LOLER, and PUWER regulations.
  • No restrictions to gaining MoD security clearance.
