Director of National Accounts - Lumber and Building Materials

NOTE: This is an onsite position based out of Doman’s distribution center in either Blainville, Quebec or Acton, Ontario.

Are you a strategic sales leader with a passion for building strong relationships and delivering results? Aplin has partnered with a long-standing client, Doman, a leader in the Canadian lumber and building materials (LBM) industry.

We are recruiting an experienced Director of National Accounts to join their corporate management team. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-energy professional to lead national sales initiatives and manage key partnerships with buying groups and major retailers across Canada.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the President of Doman Building Materials – Canada, the Director of National Accounts plays a critical role in developing and executing strategic business plans for national accounts. Responsibilities include managing relationships with major Canadian LBM buying groups and national retailers, driving revenue growth, negotiating contracts, and optimizing corporate programs.

The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and persuasive negotiator with proven success in national account sales.

  1. Lead the development and execution of annual strategic business plans for national accounts.
  2. Manage key national accounts, including buying groups and box store retailers, supporting smaller regional accounts locally.
  3. Monitor market trends, industry shifts, and competitor activity to safeguard and expand Doman’s market share.
  4. Oversee rebate and incentive programs tied to account performance.
  5. Serve as a liaison to resolve complex service and supply chain issues.
  6. Represent Doman at trade shows, industry events, and executive meetings.
  7. Collaborate with regional sales leads and internal stakeholders, providing updates and support.
  8. Coach and lead a team of National Account professionals.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in national account management, ideally within the LBM industry or a related sector.
  • Proven success in B2B sales, contract negotiation, and strategic relationship management.
  • Ability to influence decision-makers and engage with executives and buying groups.
  • Bilingual in English and French is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or related field.
  • Formal professional sales training is preferred.
