Position Type : Full time position (willing to negotiate flexible work arrangements depending on experience level) with a two year contract, renewable annually.

Job Region : Fredericton, New Brunswick (willing to explore flexible work locations with a minimum number of days in the head office).

The Learning Disabilities Association of New Brunswick / Troubles d’apprentissage – association du Nouveau –Brunswick Inc. is seeking applications for a bilingual Executive Director whose primary responsibility will be networking, advocacy, and program development to advance the organization’s mission and vision.

We exist to promote the understanding and acceptance of the ability of persons with learning disabilities to lead meaningful and successful lives.

The successful candidate will have a collaborative leadership style, a strong work ethic and superior communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working in a team environment and with diverse communities and business acumen will be important.

Accessible and innovative, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the organization’s key contracts and budget as well as supervising a staff of 1-2 people.

This impactful and rewarding position is accountable to and reports to a volunteer Board of Directors.

What You’ll Do – Key Responsibilities

Networking : Liaise with other organizations and sectors including the Government of New Brunswick representatives and officials in all matters pertaining to funding and program development.

Strategic Planning : Work with the Board to provide direction and coordination for implementation of a short-term and long-term plan for the organization.

Fundraising and Funding : Identify and procure funding opportunities both in the form of events and grant writing as well as corporate support.

Administration : Supervise a small office establishing clearly defined roles, performance standards as well as provide support and training opportunities. Maintain financial and project files as well as regular impact statements.

Advocacy and Public Awareness : Work with national and provincial LD organizations as well as regional stakeholders (educators, parents, and employers) to increase understanding of LDs and opportunities for individuals with LD and those who support them.

Program Development : Research and develop programs and services based on best practices, current trends, and the needs of members.

Organization : Oversee the coordination of Board meetings and other Board activities in conjunction with the Board Chair, including policy development.

What You’ll Need – Qualifications

Undergraduate degree (Business Administration, Human Services Administration, Public Relations, Social Work, or related field).

Experience working in a non-profit organization or other appropriate administrative role, including supervising staff and volunteers, and working with a Board of Directors.

Proven strengths in financial management, budgeting, and fund development.

Ability to think strategically to develop and implement operating plans.

Excellent written and verbal skills in both official languages is an asset. Knowledge of learning disabilities is also an asset.

Ability to work in a collaborative manner with other organizations and stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability in public speaking, written and oral communication, and interpersonal relations.

Ability to work with individuals with different interests and opinions to build effective teams in a volunteer environment.

High level of energy, motivation, persistence, and a positive attitude.

Open, creative mindset and proven problem-solving skills.

Competent in Microsoft Office and Simply Account software.

Compensation : Negotiable with a range of $50,000 – $60,000 plus benefits (willing to negotiate hours worked and commensurate with experiences). Preference will be given to those with a minimum of two years experience working in a private and / or non-profit sector.
