About the Opportunity

Methanex is currently seeking a Manager, Stakeholder Relations to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB, for a temporary 18-month assignment.

Reporting to the Manager, Global Communications, Manufacturing, the Manager, Stakeholder Relations is responsible for leading community outreach, stakeholder engagement, internal and external communications, corporate social responsibility, and government relations at the regional level. This role enhances Methanex’s reputation and brand through the strategic planning and execution of communication and engagement initiatives.

As a member of the Site Management Team, the Manager works collaboratively across functions and with external partners to develop and implement effective stakeholder strategies, while driving continuous improvement in related processes, tools, and practices.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leads the development and execution of stakeholder relations, communications, and government relations strategies to align with corporate and regional business goals
  • Manages stakeholder consultations, community outreach, Indigenous relations (if applicable), and the regional Community Advisory Panel (CAP), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Develops and implements strategic communication plans, including key messaging, media relations, branded materials, crisis communications, and Turnaround Communications support
  • Builds and maintains relationships with elected officials and public service stakeholders, monitors legislation, ensures lobbying compliance, and represents Methanex in business associations
  • Oversees the regional Community Giving Program and partnerships, identifying sponsorship opportunities, promoting volunteerism, and enhancing the company’s local reputation through social responsibility initiatives
  • Provides oversight and mentorship to team members; manages third-party consultants and contractors to ensure high-quality program delivery
  • Collaborates with Global Communications and Stakeholder Relations teams to align regional practices with global policies, best practices, and strategic plans
  • Manages budget planning, document control, and performance tracking to align with corporate financial and operational standards
  • Leads the planning and execution of stakeholder events, tours, outreach campaigns, and public consultations, overseeing logistics, vendor coordination, content development, and evaluations
  • Demonstrates Methanex’s values and leadership by upholding Responsible Care principles and participating in site-level safety and stakeholder activities

About You

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public/Stakeholder Relations, Government Relations, Journalism, or a related field, along with 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

In navigating both formal and informal networks, you foster collaboration while addressing issues head-on and maintaining professionalism.
