CUPE 2331 Supply Library Technician

$ 32.28 per hour

Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the School Principal and in collaboration with the Teacher-Librarian of the school, the Supply Library Technician organizes and maintains library materials, manages library systems and equipment, and ensures smooth library operations for students and staff.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Assist students and staff with using library resources and specialized equipment and ready reference questions; assist students and staff in use of On-line databases and resources.
  2. Assist in book exchange procedures.
  3. Maintain consistency of order, rules, and protocols of proper usage of library as established by the Teacher-Librarian and School Principal.
  4. Collection Management, Technical, Equipment, Acquisitions, and Clerical duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications:
  1. High school graduation plus a 2 year post secondary diploma or equivalent.
  2. Diploma in Library and Information Technician.
Experience
  1. A minimum of one year of experience is required.
Skills And Competencies
  1. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  2. Have good organizational skills.
  3. Knowledge of computer literacy in circulation and cataloguing.
  4. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Show initiative and adaptability.
  6. Ability to prioritize multiple demands.
  7. Ability to work with a team.
