Plains is currently looking to fill the position of a Construction Specialist located out of our Olds field office and will be responsible for the coordination of multiple construction projects related to our pipelines and facilities. Extensive knowledge and understanding of midstream construction in Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions will be required.

Responsibilities:
- Provide construction support on pipeline integrity digs;
- Assist Operations and Project Managers in establishing and maintaining construction schedules and budgets;
- Coordinate activities including estimating, schedule management, cost control, workface planning, productivity, HSE & quality performance;
- Review, develop, and input into construction bid packages and execution plans;
- Participate in bid reviews and clarify scope, schedule, safety, and cost with contractors;
- Implement health, safety, and environmental procedures on site according to legislation and company policy;
- Coordinate onboarding and training of Construction Technicians;
- Assign Construction Technicians to projects and oversee their work;
- Attend project meetings and participate in safety and quality audits;
- Maintain relationships with key project stakeholders;
- Track safety compliance and competency requirements of Construction Technicians;
- Coordinate progress meetings and ensure safety training is up to date;
- Support governance programs related to regulatory, damage prevention, environment, land, and integrity;
- Coordinate Change Orders through the internal workforce;
- Provide backup support to Construction Technicians and oversee field execution when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years as a construction specialist or technician with pipeline integrity experience;
- 5-10 years of operations or construction experience;
- Ground Disturbance Level II Certificate;
- Ability to interpret drawings;
- Experience coordinating multiple contractors and projects;
- Proven success in directing construction projects, pipeline integrity digs, shutdowns, and maintenance;
- API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification is preferred;
- Additional API certifications (653, 510, 570) are assets;
- Skills in planning, scheduling, safety, and construction technology;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic;
- Ability to travel frequently;
- Proficiency in MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- Valid driver’s license, clean abstract, and background checks;
- Compliance with drug and alcohol policies, including pre-employment testing.
