Passionate about caring for children and families? The 8-bed Pediatric Unit at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray is looking to fill an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) role. This position offers valuable experience in providing supervised, patient-centered care. UNEs deliver care within their competencies, seeking guidance as needed, and aim to provide compassionate, skilled care to children (from newborn to 16 years) and their families using professional knowledge, clinical judgment, and nursing processes.
The successful candidate will provide direct pediatric care, develop assessment and intervention skills, and advocate for families in a family-centered environment. Adaptability, effective prioritization, trust-building, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team are essential. Good interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills (particularly with Connect Care) are required.
Located in Fort McMurray, on Treaty 8 territory and traditional Metis lands, the city offers a vibrant community with cultural, recreational, and social opportunities. Fort McMurray also offers a competitive pay rate and a Fort McMurray Allowance up to $12,480 annually, payable on an hourly basis.
Description:
The UNE position allows nursing students to consolidate their education towards competency in RN or RPN practice. As an unregulated team member, the UNE provides patient-centered care under supervision, with activities and supervision levels determined by legislation, standards, policies, educational background, practice setting, patient complexity, risk, and competency.

Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an approved Alberta nursing program leading to RN or RPN registration.
- Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Completion of 3rd year of RN program with at least 600 clinical hours, or final year of an after-degree RN program with similar hours, or 2nd year of RPN program with similar hours.
Additional Qualifications:
- Scope of practice as per your role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-Crisis Intervention experience is an asset.
