We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Chef to join our kitchen team and support our Executive Chef in maintaining our reputation for culinary excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and executing a variety of dishes that expertly blend Indian and British flavours. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and consistency. As a Senior Chef, you will also assist with menu development, maintain kitchen efficiency, and help mentor junior staff. Your attention to detail, strong culinary skills, and ability to work efficiently under pressure will contribute to the overall success of our kitchen.

Duties:
- Assisting the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and food preparation.
- Setting up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales.
- Assist in the development and design of a unique menu that reflects the fusion of Indian and British cuisine.
- Supervising the kitchen staff and junior chefs, including creating prep lists and delegating tasks, as well as providing guidance and support (supervision of 5-8 kitchen staff members)
- Studying each recipe and gathering all necessary ingredients.
- Monitor food stock levels, assist with inventory management, and ensure minimal waste.
- Preparing and cooking food in a timely manner, including speciality foods, and ensuring high-quality presentation and flavour.
- Ability to juggle numerous orders at once without compromising the quality of food.
- Inform wait staff about daily specials.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable health codes and regulations, including establishing cleaning schedules for equipment, work areas and storage.
- Collaborating with the Executive Chef to improve kitchen workflow and efficiency.
Position Requirements / Skills:
- Completion of secondary school.
- Formal culinary training or degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar capacity within the culinary industry.
- 3+ years of experience working in high-volume kitchens, preferably in a pub setting.
- Experience in a variety of dishes, including vegetarian, and gluten free, as well as Indian, English, Italian and other international cuisines.
- Strong knowledge of Indian and British cuisine, cooking techniques, and flavour profiles.
- Must have experience with and know how to handle cold kitchen dishes, fish and seafood, meat, poultry and game, stock, soups and sauces, as well as vegetables, fruits, nuts and mushrooms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques and practices.
- Keeping up to date on culinary trends.
- Well versed in health and sanitation laws.
- Must have strong communication and social skills to be able to communicate with staff and customers, if required.
- Must have great culinary imagination to develop new dishes and determine specials of the day.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for high-quality food.
- Must be dependable and a team player.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Wages:
$70,865.60 CAD / yearly or $34.07 per hour and overtime rate of $51.11 per hour after 44 hours of work per week.
Work Hours:
40 hours per week, with occasional overtime. Shift work, including early mornings, and evening shifts. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Must be flexible.
