Job summary

Brighton Home Building Centre is seeking a Yard Driver with a valid DZ license to deliver materials and provide excellent customer service on site. You will prepare orders, secure loads, and ensure paperwork is complete, while assisting in the yard when deliveries are slow.

Responsibilities include daily vehicle prep, load security, and maintaining logs; flexibility for weekends/evenings/holidays and ability to work in all weather conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid “DZ” driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Criminal reference check required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to understand customer requirements.
• Good reading and comprehension of written materials.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders, pick product, secure on skids, band and wrap according to conditions.
• Prepare vehicle for delivery and verify secure loading and paperwork.
• Assist in yard and receiving when no deliveries are scheduled.
• Weekly logbook verification and follow-up for maintenance as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Yard Manager, the ideal team member operates vehicles which require a “DZ” license designation. The Driver is responsible for the delivery of material to customers in accordance with safety regulations and ensures excellent service is provided to the customer in person.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare customer orders, pick product, secure orders on skids, band and wrap according to weather and loading conditions.
• Prepare vehicle for delivery. Verify that all products are securely loaded and protected from the elements and all accompanying paperwork is available.
• Assists in the yard and receiving department when there are no scheduled deliveries.
• Weekly logbook verification, ensuring correct information has been identified on the books and follow up for any missing or necessary maintenance is required.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

• Position requires an ability to work well under pressure, employing effective decision-making (judgment) under sometimes stressful and unpredictable circumstances.
• Position requires good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to assess customer requirements and provide satisfactory solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must hold a valid “DZ” level driver's license with a clean driver's abstract required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Be able to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check.Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Must have strong communication skills and be able to understand customer requirements.
• Strong reading and comprehension of written and printed materials, including information presented in numerical form.
• Must have good knowledge of the layout of city roadways, maintain awareness of road restrictions and can source alternative routes.
• Must be familiar with basic home building construction in order to sequence loads.
• A valid Boom ticket is an asset.
