Job summary

Vancouver Public Library is seeking an On-Call Library Public Service Associate I to staff service desks, check in/out items, and assist patrons with a welcoming attitude.

The role includes shelving, lifting items, and supporting programs across multiple locations, including evenings and weekends. A Grade 12 education and customer service experience are required; training and a supportive team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by relevant courses and/or experience.
• Experience in a customer service environment is a great asset. Related experience in library services is a benefit, but all should feel welcome to apply.
• We have a robust training program to help new employees learn the world of public libraries.

Responsibilities

• Staff service desks, check in/out items, answer basic questions for patrons in a friendly, welcoming way.
• Sort and shelve books and materials; stand, lift, and move items as part of daily duties.
• Support creative programs and events for adults, kids, and teens; assist with setup and supervision.
• Work across locations; flexible to day, evening, and weekend shifts.
