Job summary

Metropolitan Contracting Inc. is seeking a General construction labourer in Concord, ON.

The role requires self-motivation, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to start immediately; permanent full-time employment with day/evening/weekend shifts and overtime. Responsibilities include loading materials, erecting forms and scaffolding, assisting in pipeline construction, framing, and operating equipment.

Qualifications

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate should have a Secondary school graduation certificate.
• 1–2 years of related industry experience is preferred.
• Must lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
• Must be a good team player and hardworking.
• Willing to work long outdoor hours, at heights, and in hazardous/dusty/noisy conditions.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport construction materials.
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
• Mix, pour, and spread materials.
• Assist heavy equipment operators.
• Assist in pipe alignment during pipeline construction.
• Assist in drilling and blasting of rock on sites.
• Assist in framing houses, erecting walls, and roofing.
• Level earth to fine grade specifications.
• Pave and rake asphalt; clean and stack salvaged materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints; perform routine maintenance.
• Train apprentices and operate locomotive cranes for moving materials.
• Perform pre-operational crane inspections and rigging calculations.
• Assemble tower cranes on-site.
