Job description

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in mass excavation, drilling & blasting, pipe & underground utility placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire experienced Class 3 Drivers to join our growing team in the HRM area for the 2025 season. Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for transporting construction materials to and from job sites around the HRM in a safe and appropriate manner.

Requirements :

  • Valid class 1 or class 3 drivers license.
  • 3 years of commercial driving experience required.
  • License permitting operation of manual transmission and ability to do so required.
  • Ability to operate vehicle in a safe manner in all weather conditions.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident / injuries immediately to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required.
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
  • Maneuver tandem into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to supervisors or other operators.
  • Ensure that any debris caused by loading / unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
  • Available to work Monday to Saturday (some Saturdays are required but not every week)
